Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Mayra Santos-Febres is an award-winning novelist, poet, essayist, radio & television personality, and a professor in the humanities division of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. In her academic work Dr. Santos-Febres specializes in African, Caribbean
& feminist literature. She is a Guggenheim Fellow & the Executive Director of the largest literary festival in the Caribbean: Festival de la Palabra. She is the author of over twenty-five books of poetry, short stories, essay collections & novels.
