Ambassador Jose Ramon Cabañas Rodriquez and his Economic and Trade Officer Rubén Ramos Arrieta visited MSU on March 20, at the initiative of MSU alumnus Mark Teicher. During his visit, the ambassador met with President Simon and toured MSU agricultural research labs, greenhouses, and fields. The Deans of International Studies and Programs and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) hosted the ambassador at a dinner.  There, study abroad program leaders introduced current MSU study abroad programs in Cuba, whose focus ranges from music and literature to sustainable development and health. The ambassador also learned about recent collaboration between CANR and CLACS to support interdisciplinary research in Cuba on themes of sustainable tourism and agriculture and youth empowerment. Dr. Cabañas Rodriguez delivered remarks on the current state of relations between Cuba and the United States and future possibilities.
