From ISP's Dean Steve Hanson
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Laurie Medina as Director of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies.  Dr. Medina returns to CLACS on August 16, 2015 after previously serving as Acting Director of CLACS from 2008 – 2009.  During that time, she worked to identify CLACS' strengths and framed programming directions for the Center's future development.  Dr. Medina has served multiple terms on the CLACS Advisory Committee where she engaged committee members and core faculty in a collective planning process to select targets for strategic partnerships in Latin America.  In addition to her administrative accomplishments, her thirty years of academic and research pursuits in the Latin American and Caribbean region have nurtured her deep understanding of issues in economic and agricultural development, environmentalism, and indigenous rights.  Dr. Medina is sure to provide insightful and exceptional leadership in cultivating a vision that positions CLACS as a premier center for research, teaching, and outreach activities in the Latin American and Caribbean region.  Please join me in welcoming her to ISP.
